Golden jackal researcher awarded the prestigious Stefan M. Gergely Prize of the Austrian Academy of Sciences

Dr Jennifer Hatlauf has been awarded the prestigious Stefan M. Gergely Prize of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The €36,000 prize is awarded for outstanding dissertations on environmental, nature and species conservation issues with a connection to Austria. Jennifer Hatlauf received the award for her dissertation at the Institute of Wildlife Biology and Hunting (IWJ) on the golden jackal in Austria and neighbouring regions.

Her work provides valuable insights into the distribution and research of the golden jackal, contributing to a better understanding of the native fauna and providing a basis for further research. In her speech, Hatlauf emphasised the increasing importance of research into the distribution of the golden jackal and thanked her colleagues at the Institute and her supervisor, Prof. Klaus Hackländer, for their support over the years.
