Doctoral School of Geomechanics in Aussois, France

The Doctoral School will be organized in the frame of the ALERT Workshop 2020 (31st Edition), which is held in Aussois from September 28 to October 1, 2020.

We are member of ALERT (The Alliance of Laboratories in Europe for Education, Research and Technology), which includes some 36 Universities or Organisations. ALERT is most active in the field of numerical and experimental modelling of geomaterials and geostructures. The traditional doctoral school is held each year in October in the picturesque village Aussois in the French Alps. The school is very successful and attracts more than 100 young researchers across Europe. The topics reflect the recent research trends in geomechanics research. This year’s topic is about “Point based numerical methods” and is organized by Wei Wu (Vienna) and Manuel Pastor (Madrid). The lectures will be given by Prof. Antonia Larese of Padova University, Italy; Prof. Ha Bui of Monash University, Australia; Prof. Johan Gaume of EPFL, Switzerland; Prof. Manuel Pastor of the Technical University of Madrid, Spain; Prof. Steve Sun of Columbia University, USA and Prof. Wei Wu of BOKU, Austria. This year the courses will be offered online because of the pandemic. The courses will last four days (September 28 to October 1). A course book will be offered and there will be chance to interact with the lecturers during the sessions.
