The main objective of this research area is to use the high-performance carbon-reinforced materials (CFRP textiles and rods) and UHPC together with a design that optimally exploits the material properties to produce durable thin-walled structural members. The high tensile strength of the carbon reinforcement (up to 3,500 MPa) and the high compressive strength of the UHPC (greater than 150 MPa) permit a crucial reduction of the self-weight of the structure through a significant reduction in the required construction material. Furthermore, this minimizes transportation effort and simplifies the lifting process in prefabrication plants and on site.
