Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes – BIP - VARBA

"Valorization of Agroindustrial Residuals towards the Biorefinery Approach" in-presence period 6th - 10th July 2026 at the

Università degli Studi di Perugia/Italy

The training project VARBA aims to advance the development of Fourth Generation Biorefineries by promoting the valorization of agro-industrial wastes within a circular economy framework. It focuses on optimizing biomass use for high value-added products and energy generation through integrated extraction, anaerobic digestion, and composting processes.

Students will gain hands-on experience in biomass characterization, innovative analytical methods, and biological process validation. The initiative fosters sustainable innovation and collaboration among partner universities, supporting future projects and continued research in biomass valorization.

Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs) are short group mobility programs that are a variation of Erasmus+ short-term mobility programs.

BIP is open to students of all levels, university staff, and teachers.

Students receive at least 3 ECTS credits per BIP

BIP consists of two parts:

2) At least in their third semester of BOKU studies and completed at least 20-30 ECTS credits (from the same study program or BOKU Bachelor's preparatory studies) at the time of application

3) Grade point average: 2.8 or better

4) English Language certificate: working language at least at B2 level (not older than 5 years)

5) not yet received a full 12 months of ERASMUS+ funding at their current level of study.

(The duration of the BIP is included in the maximum possible 12 ERASMUS+ months per level of study).
