IABSE President Fernando Branco presented on the occasion of the 2019 IABSE Congress New York City (4–6 September 2019) the Outstanding Paper Award (OPA) in the Scientific Paper category to Alfred Strauss, Jose Matos and Joan Casas for the paper "Shear Performance Mechanism Description Using Digital Image Correlation". The paper been published in the IABSE Journal Structural Engineering International SEI, Volume 28, Issue 3, August 2018 and is Co-Authored by Pablo Castillo, Konrad Bergmeister, Bernhard Krug, Roman WanWendner and Marco Marcon. The paper analyses a Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system and its ability to assess performance indicators such as crack and damage patterns, among others for the structural performance assessment of existing infrastructures.
