The Working Group on Equal Opportunity BOKU (short: AKGL) offers once per semester a grant for female master and doctoral students at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna to participate in an international scientific event or for participation in a further education event.

Previous experience has shown that female students of a Master's or doctoral programme participate in international scientific events to a much lesser extent compared to the total number of BOKU students. The travel grant plus+ created by the AKGL is intended to specifically counteract this situation and increase international mobility and networking for female students of a Master's or doctoral programme at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna by promoting participation in international scientific events and enabling the presentation of new research results in an international setting.

Since numerous scientific events have been cancelled or postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AKGL is extending the opportunities for funded participation in events until further notice. The AKGL travel grant plus+ can therefore also be applied for by female Master's or doctoral students for participation in a further education event that serves the purpose of further qualification in connection with a BOKU degree programme or further qualification at the BOKU workplace.

The AKGL travel grant plus+ can also be applied for concerning events held virtually via electronic media. In this case, AKGL will only reimburse the participants for the participation fee incurred for the event.

In each winter semester and summer semester, the AKGL awards a maximum of three grants to female students of a Master's or doctoral programme at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. A total amount of € 1,500 will be awarded, which will be divided among the three grants to be awarded depending on the amount of travel and participation costs requested. There is no award obligation.

Female students of a Master's or doctoral programme at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna that is in progress at the time of application are eligible to apply for the AKGL travel grant plus+; the completion of the Master's thesis or dissertation is not required.

A prerequisite for the award of the travel grant plus+ for participation in a scientific event is that the recipient of the grant herself gives a lecture or presents a poster at the scientific event concerned for which the grant has been requested. Mere participation in the scientific event without active contribution is not sufficient for the award of the travel grant plus+.

A prerequisite for the granting of the travel grant plus+ for participation in a further education event is that this serves the advancement of the current BOKU studies or represents a further qualification in BOKU employment relationship, which is of internal benefit for BOKU.
