Prof. Ken Kitajima from Nagoya University, Japan, is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Chemistry, BOKU (6th-17th May 2019) - learn more about the mysteries of sialic acid, a key component of many glycoconjugates, at his seminar and during his series of lectures.

Prof. Kitajima is a Visiting Professor at the BOKU (6th-17th May 2019); his research focuses on the fundamental biological processes regulating cell adhesion and signaling with particular emphasis on the functions of glycans in glycoproteins and other glycoconjugates; a particular focus is on the occurrence and role of sialic acid in a wide range of organisms. His research seminar, entitled “Sialic acid research: New findings and many mysteries” will be held on Friday 10th May 2019 at 13:00 in the Seminar Room of the Department of Chemistry. He is also holding a series of lectures for students (Sialobiology - a fascinating area of study to solve the mystery of glycans (in Eng.), 772.008; see BOKU online for details).
