Opening Keynote Speaker: Theodorus Meuwissen, Norwegian University of Life Sciences: Past experiences and future directions for genomic selection in animal breeding.

This international plant breeding symposium will focus on digitalization in plant breeding. The symposium will be open for all crops and topics relevant for crop improvement.

Symposium Motto: Digital Breeding

Crop improvement will continue to play a key role in sustainable cropping and help to meet our requirements for high quality food, feed and renewable raw materials. Recent topics with relevance for the plant breeding community are high density genotyping, third generation sequencing, targeted gene-editing, digital phenotyping, and more – there are a lot of new developments at the doorsteps. While Big Data are now accessible at affordable costs, and genomic selection is becoming of age, still better approaches and tools for data analysis and data interpretation and smart ideas to skillfully use these tools in breeding are needend.

We will discuss all questions and topics relevant for crop improvement during the symposium. Contributions on all crops, traits and methods are welcome. We cordially invite you to contribute to this fascinating debate which we have structured into four sessions. Abstract submission will open in September 2019.
