Engineered Wood
The “engineered wood” group will establish the knowledge and the technical requirements for integrating wood in virtual engineering and the industrial design process. Main focus is to make wood fit for material simulation. This will open and foster new applications for highly engineered and wood-hybrid materials for products with higher added value. WoodC.A.R. (Wood – Computer Aided Research) is the most important research initiative of the “engineered wood” group (www.woodcar.eu). WoodC.A.R. is a scientific cooperation with experts from automotive engineering. On the one hand the research project will evaluate and improve existing and develop advanced material models for use in computer aided engineering (CAE). On the other hand new production processes for advanced engineered wood components and wood hybrid materials are investigated.
