Human Resources Strategy for Researchers
The "European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers" is a set of general principles and requirements to strengthen the European Research Area (ERA). It includes recommendations for the improvement of working conditions and career perspectives for researchers with the aim of developing an attractive, open and sustainable European labor market. The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) already signed the Declaration of endorsement in 2006.
Since 2011, BOKU has enforced its efforts to elaborate a "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers". By means of a continuous improvement process, further implementation of the Charter & Codes is facilitated. After an internal gap analysis, BOKU started with its first action plan in 2012. With these efforts BOKU was acknowledged by the European Commission and achieved the right to use the logo "HR Excellence in Research".
In 2017 BOKU evaluated targets reached within the action plan 2012 and also revised the development within all dimensions and principles of Charter & Code. For the next period a new action plan was announced. Report and action plan 2017 (ready for download under the link below) werde submitted and externally assessed. As a result BOKU was encouraged to continue with the excellent work on the Charter & Code principles and will keep the HR award for the next period.
