Non-degree students are students who are either enrolled in a university course, taking single courses in academic subjects, completing supplementary examinations, preparing for the university entrance examination, or completing a foreign university degree. They either take individual courses or complete training in the form of a university course, rather than completing a normal degree.

If you wish to only take certain courses at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna without completing an academic programme, you may do so as a non-degree  student. In this case, however, you will not be able to complete an academic programme, a viva voce, or a Master's examination! Positively assessed examinations will only be counted toward an academic programme if they were completed before the general entrance examination (Reifeprüfung) or the qualification examination (Studienberechtigungsprüfung) (see § 78 paragraph 8 Universities Act)
