The Colloquium is aimed at academics who are innovators in teaching and in supporting their students' learning.  The expected outcomes are increased awareness of the possibilities for the integration of open source learning approaches in the curriculum and the enhanced opportunities for supporting students independent learning.

The ICA-EDU Colloquium 2016 is centred around two themes of e-learning open source courses.

  • firstly, to discuss the possibilities, challenges and benefits for the integration of open source learning approaches in teaching students learning, and
  • secondly, to examine business models for the development and delivery world wide of e-learning education. The burning issue around MOOCs has been the search for business models, that is, scaling, sustainability of monetization, accreditation and openness.

The Colloquium will have three keynote presentations, but is otherwise organized around working groups to share experience in the use of open source materials and MOOCs in the life sciences curriculum.
