Kick-off event: Agriculture4Africa Hackathon

at BOKU on June 18

Students from the fields of agriculture, water management, software design or economics for the Agriculture in Africa Hackathon are invited to participate. This competition (within the APPEAR EO4Africa project) is an opportunity to gain knowledge on a specific topic and to develop a practical and useful tool for further use. Products can be papers, project proposals or software applications.

The kick-off event takes place on June 18th at 5 pm at BOKU in Peter Jordan Str. 82 (room to be announced).

Preliminary programme:

  • Get to know each other at the kick-off event, explain the contents and rules.
  • Work between June and September independently (in thematic groups) to analyse the problem.
  • Meet again for an intensive 4-day training course (17-21 Sept.), where invited speakers will deliver their lectures and spend the afternoon with you in round-table discussions.

In October to December, the thematic groups will develop a paper, a project proposal or a software. The final presentation of the results in front of a jury with the award of a prize will take place in December 2018.
