LWM Call for applications


Application deadline: 24 February, ACD funding possible

The LWM Master's programme provides:

  • fundamental understanding of the structure and functioning of streams & rivers, wetlands, fishponds and lakes;
  • expert skills to assess the ecological status of freshwater ecosystems, to plan & carry-out monitoring programmes and to develop suitable conservation & restoration measures;
  • professional skills to develop and apply methods & tools towards the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems & its services, including fisheries & aquaculture.

LWM is a well-established international joint degree Masters’ programme, fully accredited in Austria, The Netherlands and Kenya. The programme structure/curriculum consists of three semesters of 4-months each, which are held in Austria (University of Natural Resources & Life Sciences, Vienna - BOKU), Kenya (Egerton University) and The Netherlands (IHE Delft), followed by a 7-months research period at one of the three partnering institutions, or your home country.

Application deadline: 24 February 2021

Fellowships funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation are currently available for applicants from the following countries: Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Uganda.

Furthermore, the regional networking platform AQUAHUB, with the mission "Improving the healthiness of Eastern African freshwater ecosystems through compilation, generation, dissemination and application of scientific knowledge" could be of your interest.
