basics in molecular biology, analytical methods in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology


After completion of this course, students
- are able to describe replication strategies of mammalian, bacterial and plant viruses, - know which viruses are used for protein expression and/or gene delivery,
- understand strategies for production of viral vectors;
are able to list host proteins that inhibit virus production
- have knowledge about markers for diversity in the virome/microbiome
- can list examples for the communication between different viruses/bacteria
- can explain how virome analyses help to identify new biomarkers
- are able to identify vaccine strategies based on viral properties,
- can list applications based on various viral systems,
- are able to discuss challenges and limits when using viruses for biotechnological and/or medical applications;
