Ph.D. positions available at BIMat


BIMat is coordinating a European Training Network with nine partners on materials strategies to reduce healthcare-associated infections. We are hiring our first batch of Ph.D. students to this unique doctoral school now. Two positions are available at the Institute for Biologically Inspired Materials, BOKU.

STIMULUS is a European Training Network working on reducing healthcare-associated infections. We train early-stage researchers (Ph.D. students) for a career in biomaterials by researching smart wound dressings to detect and treat bacterial infections without opening the wound.

To accomplish this, STIMULUS combines the expertise of organic, macromolecular, physical and materials chemists, materials scientists, electronic engineers, biotechnologists, medical doctors (clinicians), (micro)biologists, government policy experts, and representatives from both SMEs and large enterprises. Our consortium bridges from academia and medical research institutes to policymakers and industry.

Our Ph.D. students will get individualized and joint training in all these disciplines and relevant sectors along the value chain, giving them a unique and genuinely interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral training experience.

STIMULUS includes academic scientists with a proven track record in the synthesis, application, and testing of novel materials for bacterial detection and control from across Europe. Six countries are represented: Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

All our early-stage researchers will receive a Ph.D. degree from one of our leading academic institutions: Academic Medical Center (Amsterdam), Koç University, Technical University of Darmstadt, University of Bath, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, or University of Siegen.
