Participatory adaptation: Development of restoration strategies for increasing carbon stocks and combating species losses on degraded lands
Based on the results of WP 1 and WP 2, concrete activities to increase the resilience of forests will be developed for Government owned forests and implementation will be started. Conditions of the watersheds will be assessed, carbon losses will be quantified and interventions to combat land degradation (slope stabilization by using native bamboo, agroforestry, road alignment and cut, etc.) are identified.
In the frame of a participatory adaptation approach and embedded in national development plans management strategies and activities for increasing carbon stocks, particularly on degraded lands will be developed. The strong focus on capacity building will guarantee long term sustainability of inputs and ownership of knowledge and activities.
