The wide-ranging research areas of BOKU demand a huge variety of instrumentation and (large) equipment that can be accessed in the most convenient and economically efficient way via the BOKU Core Facilities. BOKU developed strong expertise in different fields of research. We are convinced that centering this profound knowledge and providing it to academia as well as industry can perfectly support scientists on their way to ground-breaking findings and discoveries.

Core Facility Biomolecular & Cellular Analysis

The BOKU Core Facility Biomolecular & Cellular Analysis (BMCA) is a cutting-edge analytical lab specializing in biomolecular characterization, biomolecular interactions, protein crystallography, and flow cytometry.

Core Facility Food & Bio Processing

The BOKU Core Facility Food & Bio Processing (FBP) provides R&D services for process design, pilot-scale sample production, and product quality and microbiological analyses of food and bio-based materials.

Core Facility Multiscale Imaging

The BOKU Core Facility Multiscale Imaging (MSI) is equipped with various light microscopes, including confocal, wide-field, TIRF, laser micro-dissection, and Raman chemical mapping. It offers access to fluorescence-based and label-free imaging techniques.

Core Facility BioIndustrial Pilot Plant

The BOKU Core Facility Bioindustrial Pilot Plant (BIPP) offers expertise in fermentation technology, downstream processing, and related analytics of biomolecules in a versatile GMP-like facility. It also provides education and training courses in this field.

Core Facility Mass Spectrometry

The BOKU Core Facility Mass Spectrometry (MS) offers high-end separation science and mass spectrometry for proteomics, glycomics, metabolomics, and elemental and isotopic analysis in life, environmental, and food sciences.

Core Facility Analysis of Lignocellulosics

The BOKU Core Facility Analysis of Lignocellulosics (ALICE), along with its twin lab at Åbo Akademi University in Turku, Finland, offers method development and state-of-the-art chromatographic, spectroscopic, and chemical analysis for advanced characterization of lignocellulose and biorefinery products.

The BOKU Core Facility Bioinformatics (BINF) provides computing and programming solutions to research groups, including common workflows for data analysis such as genome assembly, differential expression analysis, variant calling, and more.

The BOKU Core Facility Bioactive Molecules: Screening and Analysis (BMOSA) offers high-throughput microbiology screening resources and high-end mass spectrometry for small molecule and polymer science.
