In this course, the components of the hydrological cycle as well as relevant hydrological processes, storages and fluxes will be discussed. The course covers an overview of different measuring concepts for components of the hydrological cycle at different spatial scales as well as modell concepts for describing hydrological processes such as evapotraspiration, precipitation, discharge, infiltration, interception, including different concepts in rainfall - runoff modelling. A conceptual hydrological model will be set up at the end ofthe course.
Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

basic knowledge in hydrology
basic knowledge in statistics and analysis (esp. with R)
Lehrziel

- Process understanding of the individual components of the hydrological cycle.
- Knowledge of measurement techniques of the different components of the hydrological cycle and information on the availability of hydrological data at different spatial scales.
- Knowledge of different modeling concepts to describe hydrologic processes.
- Ability to select and apply models for various applications.
