As part of the KRAISBAU research project, our institute is dedicated to developing fundamental standards and strategies for a circular construction economy. The project brings together experts from various fields who work collaboratively to drive the transformation of the construction industry. The goal is to establish the foundations for the reuse of building components and to optimize raw and construction materials in terms of their disassembly, recyclability, and durability.A key focus is the comprehensive documentation of building components and materials. This includes collecting data on degradation and material aging as well as developing innovative approaches to component design. Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role in automating the analysis and assessment of components, paving the way for standardized processes. Our primary objective is to develop a standardized process based on fundamental research. Currently, deconstruction and the reuse of building components are not common practices. Therefore, new processes and value chains must be created to integrate these practices into everyday construction.Through interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific excellence, the project establishes the necessary prerequisites for a transition towards a resource-efficient, circular economy.
