The following internships are offered by the Institute of Agricultural Engineering:

Internship position in the biogas group

Internship position in the biogas group of the Institute of Agricultural Engineering offers an internship position in its biogas laboratory, which is located in Tulln an der Donau (Lower Austria). The internship will mainly consist of supporting the laboratory technician as well as the PhD students in their daily tasks in the laboratory.

Activities include the performance of the following biomass analysis: dry matter, volatile solids, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin and proteins.

Determination of biomethane potential tests (BMP) from agro-municipal organic residues (e.g. straw): preparation of the setup (biomass, inoculum, fermenters and eudiometers), reading the produced biogas, determination of the methane content, entering the recorded data in our database and interpretation of the results.

Performance of a literature review that could be used for writing a scientific publication.

Requirements:
 -Background in agricult. sciences, chemistry or biotechnology
- Students must have completed at least the fifth semester of their studies
- Ability to work independently and to take responsibilities
- Interest in biogas and ability to work in a group
- Accuracy, reliability, eager to learn

Expected length:
The desired length of the internship would be 5-6 months.

Payment:
The Institute of Agricultural Engineering cannot provide any salary for the performance of the internship. In addition, no expenses for accommodation, travel, food or health insurance can be covered.

Internship position in the agricultural LCA group

Internship position in the agricultural LCA group in the Institute of Agricultural Engineering offers 2 internship positions in its life cycle assessment (LCA) group.

Activities:
Position LCA: literature research, system description, data collection, implementation of emissions models in LCA software, modelling of process chains in LCA software, analysis and interpretation of results, statistical analysis, report writing and diagram/chart generation

Position GPS in grassland farming: literature research, importing of data and exporting of results from MatLab software, further analysis in excel, statistical analysis, generation of tables and charts, report writing

Performance of a literature review that could be used for writing a scientific publication.

- Background in agricultural sciences, environmental sciences/engineering, chemistry or biotechnology
- Students must have completed at least the fifth semester of their studies
- Interest in life cycle assessment
- Ability to work independently and to take responsibilities
- Ability to work in a group, accuracy, reliability, eager to learn

Internship position in the agro-mechatronics group

Internship position in the agro-mechatronics group in the Institute of Agricultural Engineering offers an internship in the field of agro-mechatronic and agricultural engineering. The internship will take place in Groß Enzersdorf (Lower Austria - near Vienna). Travel to different test sites is possible. The internship will mainly consist of supporting the master and PhD students in their daily work.

Activities:
Evaluation of field tests: assistance in image analysis, assistance in spectral measurements, laboratory analysis of harvest samples, evaluation of yield parameters from harvest samples

Field tests: planning of sample schemes and point marking with RTK-GPS, collection of harvest samples, bulk density measurements with soil sample rings, penetration resistance with penetrologger measurements, measurement of soil moisture

Laboratory test: assistance in programing and testing robotic laboratory devices

Literature reviews for project development or scientific publications.

Requirements:
- Background in agricultural sciences, mechatronics or mechanical engineering
- Students must have completed at least the fifth semester of their studies
- Interest in agricultural engineering, mechatronics and precision farming
- Ability to work independently, accurately and reliably, to take responsibility, to work in a group and eager to learn

Expected length:

The desired length of the internship would be 5-6 months.
