813.003 Processes and technologies for waste management (in Eng.) Course (1 ECTS)
Objective: The course aims to provide knowledge on industrial waste management, regional waste management planning, and landfill monitoring. Integrated biogas solutions will be emphasized as a sustainable approach to waste management and climate change mitigation, with a special focus on agricultural waste management. The potential for biogas and biomethane production from various waste streams is discussed. The results of the Austrian-Ukrainian research project on the composition of solid waste and its resource potential are presented.
Content of the teaching program:
1. Waste Management and Climate Crisis – maintain it both with biogas solutions.
2. Agricultural wastes as substrates for biogas production: global and regional. Digestate application for sustainable agriculture.
3. Experience in closing and monitoring waste dumps in Ukraine.
4. Results of the joint Austrian-Ukrainian research project “Study of the composition of municipal solid waste and its resource potential”.
