Public Seminar Evening with two Guest Professors at ILEN and ILAP
On 9 December 2024, two visiting professors gave exciting public talks on the management of protected areas at BOKU University. Prof Ingrid E. Schneider from the University of Minnesota, Department of Forest Resources, was a visiting professor at ILEN in December. Her lecture ‘The rise of robots in parks and protected areas: Diffusion and deliberations’ focused on the use of drones and robots in protected area management and –monitoring and its public acceptance in the USA. Prof Walter Musakwa from the University of Johannesburg, Geography & Environmental Management & Energy Studies Faculty, was a visiting professor at ILAP. In his lecture ‘’Community perceptions on Gonarezhou National Park’ he introduced his research on local perceptions and acceptations of conservation, bio-cultural heritage and landscape memories in Gonarezhou National Park, Zimbabwe.
