Exchange on Connecting Europe’s Landscape Architecture Archives

ConnectLAA Working Group hosted at BOKU

Working Group 1 of COST Action CA23128 ConnectLAA visited the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), as part of a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM). The aim was to exchange ideas on developing the online collection of the Archive of Austrian Landscape Architecture (LArchiv) and integrating it into the Kulturpool and Europeana platforms.

Hanna Sorsa-Sautet, archivist at the French École Nationale Supérieure de Paysage in Versailles, together with the team at BOKU University’s Institute of Landscape Architecture, examined how this model can be transferred to other European archives. The week provided space for discussions about the accessibility and visibility of the holdings of European landscape architecture archives.

The mission is part of the second year of the COST Action and builds on the Network of European Landscape Architecture Archives (NELA), established in 2019. Various disciplines including landscape architecture, art history, archival science, and IT are working together to make the archives usable as a resource for research, teaching, and projects, and to promote access to international collections.
