Master thesis and/or position
Subject:
Microplastics are now distributed globally and have already been detected in the human body. However, the risks associated with these highly resistant materials, which contain a cocktail of chemicals, remain uncertain. As part of a master's thesis and/or employment at our institute, we are looking for support for the further development of a tool to determine the risks of microplastics to humans. This tool is intended to support the risk-reducing design of new plastics.
Essential preliminary work has already been carried out as part of the EU project PlasticsFatE.
The master's thesis or employment offers the opportunity to contribute to a highly topical and socially relevant research area.
Tasks:
- Further development of a tool for assessing the risks of microplastics.
- Implementation of new functions and algorithms in Python.
- Analysis and integration of data from the EU project PlasticsFatE.
Requirements:
- Good programming skills in Python.
- Interest in interdisciplinary questions, particularly in the field of environmental and health risks.
- Independent and structured working style.
- Ideally, experience in the development of software tools or scientific applications.
We offer:
- An interdisciplinary and dedicated team.
- Insights into an EU-funded research project.
- Access to current data and methods in the field of microplastic risk assessment.
- The opportunity to contribute to the sustainable design of plastics.
- A personal workspace at our institute at Türkenschanze.
- Flexible working hours and the possibility of partial Homeoffice.
Application:
