Rethinking Sustainable Mobility: Second LLL Meeting in Vienna
On September 11, the second Learning-Living Lab (LLL) meeting of the UNLOCK15 project (research program: Driving Urban Transitions to a Sustainable Future) took place at the MILA participatory supermarket in Vienna's 12th district (1120 Wien).
After an introductory round for getting to know each other and a brief recap, there were short updates from the LLL neighborhoods. The main topic of the meeting was lock-in theories in mobility and their application to local lock-ins for the Learning-Living Labs in Meidling and Ottakring. The workshop concluded with a reflection and an outlook on the next steps.
About the UNLOCK15 Project - Empowering People for Transitions to UNLOCK the 15-Minute City
Citizens and local authorities play a crucial role in the transition to sustainable mobility. Despite successful strategies, challenges remain, such as protests against approaches that challenge the prevailing car regime. The 15-minute city questions the existing car-dominated system, and the UNLOCK15 project aims to empower citizens to overcome behavioral, technological, and institutional barriers that hinder the transition to this concept.
The project addresses obstacles related to citizen and stakeholder engagement, institutional learning, and the development of locally rooted narratives for human-centered planning.
