Roxani Gkavra and Julia Schilder have successfully defended their dissertations, making significant contributions to research on micromobility and shared mobility in rural areas.

The Institute for Transport Studies is proud to announce two successful PhD defenses:

On September 24, 2025, Roxani Gkavra successfully defended her dissertation titled “Exploring travel behaviour in the shared micromobility context: adoption and usage patterns of bike and e-scooter sharing” with distinction. Her work provides valuable insights into the usage patterns and potential of shared micromobility services such as bike and e-scooter sharing. Roxani was supervised by Yusak Susilo (main supervisor) and co-supervised by Prateek Bansal and Constantinos Antoniou. The examination committee included Markus Mailer, Elisabetta Cherchi, and Astrid Gühnemann (chair).

On September 29, 2025, Julia Schilder successfully defended her dissertation. Her research focuses on shared mobility in rural areas, contributing to a better understanding of the adoption and usage of mobility services beyond urban limits. Julia was supervised by Juliane Stark (main supervisor) and co-supervised by Yusak Susilo and Anna Mayerthaler. The examination committee included Martin Kagerbauer, Stefanie Peer, and Astrid Gühnemann (chair).
