Scientific Exchange in Schladming: Winter Seminar 2026

From February 28 to March 6, 2026, the Institute for Transport Studies continued its tradition dating back to 1998 by participating in the Winter Seminar in Schladming.

From February 28 to March 6, 2026, the Institute for Transport Studies took part in the annual Winter Seminar in Schladming, continuing a long-standing tradition that dates back to 1998. Organized by the Technical University of Munich (Chair of Prof. Klaus Bogenberger), the seminar is an established forum for high-caliber academic exchange and for the development of professional and didactic skills. A key goal of the week was to sharpen English communication skills within a demanding academic setting.

Scientific Highlights

  • Maximilian Hoffmann presented the current status of his dissertation, “Employing System Dynamics to Understand the Wider Impacts of Transformative Policies in Strategic Mobility Planning,” engaging in in-depth discussions on methodological approaches for future-proof mobility planning.
  • Prof. Astrid Gühnemann delivered a talk on the role of researchers and the application of expert knowledge, particularly in political decision-making processes.

The seminar combined morning mountain hikes with intensive scientific discussions in the afternoons, creating a focused environment for substantive engagement and collegial exchange.

We look forward to next year’s Winter Seminar, which will be hosted by the University of Stuttgart.
