Walk with Eugene in Türkenschanzpark on the Day of Walking

On Monday, 27 June 2026, Austria celebrated its first Day of Walking, an initiative by BM IMI. BOKU quite literally observed the occasion with a stroll through Türkenschanzpark. Eugene Quinn, walking enthusiast and urban explorer from whoosh.wien, served as our guide. With plenty of stories about walking and a cheerful spirit, he got BOKU staff and students moving during their lunch break.

Walking is rarely perceived as an independent mode of transport, which makes it all the more important to emphasize its role as a healthy and sustainable form of everyday mobility.

The walk was organized by Sandra Wegener (Institute for Transport Studies) and Kirsten Sleytr (Healthy BOKU) as part of the FGÖ project “BOKU Mobility4Health” and the Interreg project “GREENPATH.”
