On April 21 and 22, 2026, the partners of the GreenPATH project met in Kecskemét (Hungary) for the 5th Steering Committee meeting. Roman Klementschitz and Oliver Roider from the Institute for Transport Studies participated in the meeting.

The meeting offered the opportunity to evaluate the progress achieved so far and to coordinate the next steps for the upcoming final phase of the project. GreenPATH is co-financed by the Interreg Central Europe program and pursues the goal of improving sustainable mobility management in functional urban areas (Functional Urban Areas – FUAs) in Central Europe.

Pilot Measures and Data-Driven Planning

A central focus of the discussions lay on the ongoing pilot measures, which are currently being implemented in different urban contexts – including university campuses and industrial areas. These pilots deliver valuable insights into how innovative mobility solutions can be adapted to local conditions and scaled beyond the project areas.

Further core themes of the session were:

  • Data-driven action plans: Development of decision-making bases for transport planning.
  • Policy integration: Strategies for anchoring project results in regional and national political framework conditions.
  • Sustainability assessment: Analysis of the ecological and social impacts of the pilot activities to ensure their long-term sustainability.

The meeting in Kecskemét underlined the importance of transnational cooperation to encounter complex mobility challenges in Central Europe with sustainable, inclusive, and resilient transport systems.

GreenPATH is a transnational project for the strengthening of sustainable mobility management in functional urban areas through innovative solutions, capacity building, and policy integration.
