Digital Participation at the FSV Planning Seminar 2026

The FSV Planning Seminar "Participation in the Digital Age" took place in St. Veit im Pongau. The two-day event offered a successful platform for professional exchange on how digital tools can sustainably increase transparency and efficiency within the framework of transport infrastructure planning.

The Institute for Transport Studies (IVE) of BOKU University was responsible this year for the content compilation of the seminar program and was, moreover, significantly involved in the leadership of the event:

  • Oliver Roider took over the moderation of the first event day, on which the technological framework conditions as well as innovative planning approaches such as gamification and urban digital twins were in focus.
  • Juliane Stark led the second seminar day, which focused primarily on application-oriented practical examples and the concrete implementation in cities and municipalities.
  • Roman Klementschitz led through the interactive workshop, in which the participants analyzed the current and future roles of digital participation tools in moderated small groups.

The seminar forcefully underlined that technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), mobile applications, and interactive simulations occupy a key role in making complex infrastructure projects more tangible and promoting a well-founded dialogue between planners, authorities, and the public.

We sincerely thank the Research Association for Roads - Rail - Transport (FSV) for the organization on site as well as all speakers for the valuable scientific and practical impulses.
