Review of TRA 2026
The Institute for Transport Studies (IVE) of BOKU University was represented on site by Roman Klementschitz, who presented the current research results of our house. Within the framework of a poster presentation, he introduced the innovative project ZeroFlex. The project is funded by the "Austrian Initiative for Emission-Free Mobility" and is dedicated to the systematization and economic viability of modular, eco-friendly mobility hubs.
The Core Pillars of the ZeroFlex Project
In order for mobility hubs to be widely adopted by municipalities, businesses, and the tourism sector, each station must be economically self-sustaining. The project is based on the following focal points:
- Modular Infrastructure: Development of cost-effective and highly flexible mobility hubs that primarily focus on electrically powered, single-track vehicles.
- Energy Efficiency: Direct integration of photovoltaic systems and local energy storage into the station design.
- Practical Test Under Real Conditions: A large-scale field test including continuous monitoring and evaluation in the city of Klagenfurt.
- Economic Viability: Modeling of optimized overall systems and flexible business models as well as the assessment of the realistic contribution to climate neutrality.
We are pleased that the IVE was able to successfully contribute the expertise of BOKU to this important European research platform.
