On Wednesday, 1 July 2026, the annual end-of-semester excursion of the Institute for Transport Studies took place. This year’s outing combined aspects of ecological sustainability with social entrepreneurship.

The institute team visited the company magdas RECYCLING in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district. Under the guidance of production manager Clemens Sillaber, the delegation gained insights into the work processes of this social business. The company focuses on sorting, checking and recycling mobile phones, while creating jobs for people with limited access to the labour market.

After the site visit, a joint walk led to the Strandgasthaus Birner on the Old Danube. This was the venue for the end-of-semester gathering, which was attended not only by the regular institute team but also by external lecturers. The shared dinner offered space for professional exchange and reflection on the completed academic year.
