Last month, IVE hosted 2 practice-oriented sessions as part of this year's Kinderuni BOKU. Marking the 11th edition of the workshop “Worauf fährst du ab?” and the 7th edition of the seminar “Mit 80 durch die Straßen?”, the events introduced young participants to key questions in mobility and spatial planning.

Workshops and Core Topics:

  • “Worauf fährst du ab?” (Target group: ages 7–9):

    The focus was on raising awareness of active and sustainable modes of mobility. Using step counters, a scooter obstacle course, and an interactive mobility rally across campus, participants analyzed the connection between individual travel choices and their impact on the environment and urban space.

  • “Mit 80 durch die Straßen?” (Target group: ages 10–12):

    This session was dedicated to barrier-free public space design. Using age-simulation suits, wheelchairs, and white canes, the children experienced the daily challenges faced by mobility-impaired and visually impaired individuals in traffic. Navigating steps, ramps, and sidewalks around the Ilse Wallentin House highlighted the planning relevance of accessible infrastructure.
