Students from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation Visit

The Institute for Transport Studies (IVE) at BOKU University welcomed around 20 scholarship holders from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation) for an academic exchange in Vienna. The interdisciplinary student group visited to learn about developments in sustainable urban and transport planning in Vienna and to discuss both historical and future transformation processes of urban spaces.

In his presentation, Johannes Müller provided an overview of major paradigm shifts in urban planning—from 20th-century car-oriented planning toward people-centered, climate-resilient, and multimodal concepts. The subsequent discussion focused on emerging planning approaches for car-light neighborhoods and their tangible impacts on mobility behavior, public space quality, and urban well-being.

The visit provided an engaging platform for dialogue between researchers and emerging talents from various disciplines on designing future-proof, sustainable cities.
