In Austria, with its high company and area percentage organic farming plays a vital role. It is the mission of the Division of Organic Farming to contribute substantially to the advancement of organic farming and nutrition through research and teaching. Doing so, we also take its specific systemic nature into account. Disciplinary as well as interdisciplinary results are evaluated based on their effects for the overall system.
Two working groups operate at the Institute of Organic Farming: the Working Group Soil Fertility & Cropping Systems and the Working Group Knowledge Systems & Innovation. You can find out more about our research (topics, projects, publications) under the section Research and Working Groups. Details on courses at and offered by the Division can be found under the section Courses.
The history and mission statement of the Institute can be found under the section About the Institute. A list of our staff members can be found under the section Persons. The section Service provides the interested public with information on organic farming and related topics, related links as well as various downloads.
