Warm Welcome to UGM Delegation at the Institute of Soil Research

Prof. Martin Gerzabek welcomed the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), continuing a decade-long, fruitful collaboration.

During the visit, the focus was on strengthening research collaboration and building synergies in capacity development – especially around the Excellence Center for Tropical Soil Health, which is currently in development in partnership with the Keiblinger Group. Discussions also highlighted a joint initiative launched this summer with local government partners, reflecting our shared commitment to restoring degraded soils in former mining regions.

We are especially proud that contributors to this initiative were recently honored with the Bernd Rode Award 2024 (ASEA-UNINET) – a recognition of the strength and impact of our collaborative efforts.

Special thanks go to Prof. Franz Zehetner, whose expertise in soil genesis greatly enhances our shared vision of bridging tropical and temperate soil research. The day concluded with an inspiring dinner discussion joined by Dr. Gernot Bodner and Dr. Rebecca Hood, both of whom bring deep experience from UGM partnerships and ASEA-UNINET collaborations.
