International scientific exchange in Indonesia and Vietnam
Strengthening international partnerships
International collaboration is an essential part of research at the Institute of Soil Research. In June, Rebecca Hood-Nowotny, Lea Wellinger and Juliana Jäggle visited our long-standing partner institutions Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Indonesia and the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).
The visit to Indonesia focused on strengthening scientific exchange and discussing ongoing collaborative activities. A highlight was the visit to our long-term field experiment on Bangka Island, which has been running since 2018. The programme also included visits to agricultural sites and exchanges with students participating in interdisciplinary field projects in rural communities.
Following the visit to Indonesia, Rebecca Hood-Nowotny continued to Vietnam to meet with colleagues at VNUA and further develop the partnership and future joint research activities.
We sincerely thank our colleagues at UGM and VNUA for their warm hospitality, inspiring discussions and continued collaboration. International partnerships such as these are key to addressing global challenges in sustainable agriculture, soil research and environmental management.
