Training of Waste Managers in accordance to § 11 AWG

As a consequence of the legal requirements of the Waste Management Law (AWG)  the economy has a need of well trained Waste Managers who fulfill their function as a waste- and environmental coordinator besides their actual tasks and occupation. In practice in medium- and large-sized companies this task is being managed by the production director, the procurator or the central plant officer, who increasingly have an academic education or where an academic education is being demanded by the economy. An appropriate high level education doesn't only yield in a quality improvement in the operational waste management, but also in a legal security regarding environmental laws and related environmental acts. Due to its existing educational offers, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences is in the position to train legally approved Waste Managers in accordance to § 11 AWG 2002. The certification is being handled by the Institute of Waste Management. The training can be completed by degree program students as well as by non-degree program students who are enrolled at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences or any other Austrian University. The training consists of a course list that has to be passed successfully and a final exam in front of a exam senate. The finished qualification of Waste Managers is being confirmed with a certificate.
