In late 1990, equal opportunities working parties were established at Austrian universities through an amendment to the then-current University Organization Act. In June 1991, the AKGL BOKU was constituted for the first time. The AKGL’s mission is to counteract discrimination by university bodies based on gender, as well as on ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, or sexual orientation. The AKGL is also confronted with new challenges arising from rapid technological development.
