Part 2: Consequences of the Renouncement of Herbicid Application

Summary

Six-year-results from a 1984/85 started crop-rotation-experiment on calcic chernozem and on diluvial sandy soil demonstrate that herbicid application enabled an extensive weed-clearing in maize. However, an increased yield only resulted in years with very strong weed stress in comparison to hoeing in addition to weed concurrence. Dung manuring promoted weed burden, nevertheless, yield increases between 6 and 10 % were observed. Correlations between dung manuring and weed control treatments were only presented on sandy soil.
