K.-U. HEYLAND and F. KLOEPFER:
Adaptation of nitrogen fertilization for the demand of sugar beets under special consideration of slurry
Summary
In the years 1984 and 1985 field trials in the "Köln-Aachener Bucht" about the optimal nitrogen fertilization to sugar beets were performed. Fertilization with slurry is possible, if a proper technique of distribution and an optimal time of application is guaranteed. Splitting of slurry fertilization in spring time cannot be recommended. In combination with mineral nitrogen a slurry application led to higher sugar yields. A forecast about the amount of nitrogen necessary for a certain yield level is not possible. Key-words: sugar-beets, nitrogen-fertilization, nitrogen-demand, slurry.
