M. Neunteufel:
Policies for sustainability – a multilogue
Summary
Information networks enable a permanently developing exchange of information – a multilogue – among the relevant actors of policy processes aiming at sustainability. The paper discusses problems and potentials of these networks and the importance of information and communication technologies in the strategic design of environmental policy. It describes the role of science and of knowledge in general in information society. Special attention is paid to the questions how farmers should be tied up to the multilogue and with which additional knowledge they should be supplied to improve their ability to include requirements of sustainability into their decisions. The multilogue could support farmers in fulfilling their responsibility towards the environment, thus bringing advantages for agricultural policy as well. Key words: sustainability, agrarian policy, networks, knowledge society, decision support.
