Aims
Aims
The aim of this consortium is to gather and evaluate neglected indigenous grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) genotypes in order to prevent their disappearance and help their sustainability through the establishment of true-to-type and virus tested prebasic material “ready to use” for national and international nurseries. Project setup:
- Field expedition, cultivar identification and evaluation Field expedition on the territory of Croatia and Montenegro with the aim of cultivar and Vitis vinifera no name genotypes identification and evaluation by basic ampelographic methods, as well as grape and tissue sampling for evaluation of grape quality, molecular marker analyzes, virus testing and grafting purpose. Cultivar identification by SSR markers will be conducted at University of Zagreb.
- Intravarietal studies and confirmation of SSR data Laboratory research on molecular analysis regarding inter- and intra-varietal variability via S-SAP will be conducted at BOKU, Austria. This is supposed to be a scientific contribution in term of better understanding of genetic structure of grape cultivar populations and role of mutations in their stability.
- Virus testing, propagation of virus-free material and its maintaining Laboratory and nursery research on virus infections of grape cultivar populations, as well as their ecotype (clonal) differences. It will be conducted at IRZ Geisenheim, Germany. This is supposed to be a scientific contribution in term of better understanding of health status and stability of cultivar populations. Also, through this WP the long term conservation of selected and analyzed material has to be achieved.
