Within the frame of the Erasmus+ project INTRINSIC („INnovative educaTion foR sustaInable eNtrepreneurShip In Life sCiences“), the first international conference on "Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education" (1st SustEntEd) will take place ONLINE from November 25-26, 2021.

Lecturers at all life science universities in Europe are cordially invited to get to know the basics and methods for promoting competencies for sustainable entrepreneurship in their students. You can register freely here (https://intrinsic.eu/final-conference.html).

Teachers will be also presented with ways, how to implement different approaches to foster sustainable entrepreneurship competences in students in their own teaching, and link it to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education primarily aims at supporting the development of a corresponding “mindset” among the students, which helps them to discover possibilities to contribute to a sustainable development that have not yet been realized, and to develop corresponding creative ideas and solutions related to the SDGs. Core competences that INTRINSIC is focusing on, according to Ploum et al. (2018), are (1) interpersonal competences, (2) diversity and interdisciplinary competences, (3) systems thinking, (4) strategic action competence, (5) normative competence and finally (6) foresighted thinking competence.

The entrepreneurial mindset, that INTRINSIC’s learning activities are aiming at, is “a cognitive perspective that enables an individual to create value by recognizing and acting on opportunities (related to sustainability, with a focus on the SDGs), making decisions with limited information, and remaining adaptable and resilient in conditions that are often uncertain and complex” (Daspit et al. 2021), including the aspect of moral competences as a basic requirement for engaging in sustainable entrepreneurship (Ploum et al. 2021). Moreover, the resulting mindset also supports students in their further careers in “taking initiative and steering their own learning, development, and career, important aspects given the high level of uncertainty and complexity in today’s society” (Baggen et. al 2021).
