The conference was co-organized by young researches from the Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources (Ass.Prof. Dr. Hubert Hettegger, Dr. Marco Beaumont), the Institute of Wood Technology and Renewable Materials (Dr. Jan Janesch, Dr. Claudia Gusenbauer), and the Core Facility Analysis of Lignocellulosics (Dr. Irina Sulaeva). This biennial event is one of the largest conferences in the field of polysaccharide science, specifically aimed at early-career researchers, including PhD students, Post-Doctoral Researchers, and Junior Assistant Professors.
With over 170 participants from across the globe, the meeting served as a platform for sharing recent research developments and discussing future trends in polysaccharide science. Specially invited plenary lecturers, including Univ.-Prof. i.R. DI. Dr. Paul Kosma (BOKU), Dr. Martina Opietnik (Lenzing AG), and Ass. Prof. Dr. Tiina Nypelö (Aalto University, Finnland and Chalmers University, Sweden) provided valuable insights into recent trends in sustainable development.
The main symposium took place at the Muthgasse campus, and attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy social activities in Vienna, offering a unique experience of both BOKU campus and the beautiful city of Vienna.
