Mini Symposium – Forest Entomology

10:19 ‐ 12:00

  • Symposium

Patrick Krapf, a Marie-Curie Fellow from the University of Amsterdam, and Maximilian Lehenberger, a PostDoc from the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena, will present their current research in the course of a Forest Entomology Mini Symposium at BOKU University.

Patrick will give us insights into the fascinating world of ants, sharing his recent work on the genomic architecture and adaptations to environmental conditions in Formica species (and also other ant-related research).

Max will talk about the relationships between tree-colonizing beetles and their associated fungi, and how these interactions affect different symbiosis partners.

Titles of talks:

Patrick Krapf: "Behavior, hybridization, and life-history of ants in light of global change"

Maximilian Lehenberger: “Benefits of a mutualism with microbes – How fungi are promoting the survival of tree-colonizing beetles”

Event location: BOKU University, Franz-Schwackhöfer-Haus, SCHW-01/112 (seminar room Institute of Forest Entomology, Forest Pathology and Forest Protection); Peter-Jordan-Straße 82/I, 1190 Vienna
