BISC-E (Bio-based Innovation Student Challenge Europe) is a Europe-wide student competition that challenges students to design bio-based products or processes addressing environmental, technological, or societal challenges. The competition promotes awareness of the bioeconomy’s role in building a sustainable and circular future. The Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) organises BISC-E at the European level. In Austria, BISC-E 2026 is coordinated by the Centre for Bioeconomy at BOKU and BIOS Science Austria.
The Austrian final will take place on May 28th at BOKU University, where interdisciplinary student teams will pitch their innovative bio-based solutions to a jury of industry and academic experts. Solutions are evaluated based on sustainability, technical feasibility, and economic viability. The winning team will represent Austria at the European finals in autumn 2026.
