Tropical rainforests are the most species-rich ecosystems on Earth, play a vital role in the global carbon cycle, and offer the opportunity to study complex ecological systems. Although they are being lost at an alarming rate, they also have the ability to recover quickly.
In Costa Rica, students from BOKU studied the various ecological strategies of tropical trees and observed how these forests can recover through both natural succession and human intervention.
