Support for Ukrainian Scientists

BOKU-IR supports Ukrainian Scientists who want to work at BOKU and BOKU institutes who want to welcome Ukrainian Scientists, in case of questions related to residence permit, funding, housing etc. This website provides an overview on these topics. In case of further questions or need for individual counselling, please contact margarita.calderon-peter(at)boku.ac.at

1. Entry and residence in Austria for Ukrainian citizens

Register at the police and then apply for an “ID card for displaced persons” at the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum (Bundesamt für Fremdenwesen und Asyl - BFA)

2. Work in Austria

Ukrainian Citizens with an ID card for displaced persons are exempted from the Austrian Act Governing the Employment of Foreign Nationals in case of an employment in research and education at a university.
